Mandala Arts presents a unique teen dance and music program that will facilitate dialogue about structural racism and personal experiences in Aurora’s communities. Participants will access weekly workshops featuring dance and music master classes – from renowned companies in Chicagoland – as well as community speakers and student-to-student dialogue.
The workshops will feature LatinX, South Asian and Black American artists and cultures. Through cultural exchange, artistic expression, and conversation, this program builds a safe space for teens to collectively navigate racial and cultural disparities in our communities.
Join us in February for six weekly one-hour workshops, beginning Wednesday, February 3 through March 10 from 5:00-6:00pm. All teen participants have the option of continuing after the six weeks to learn a routine to perform at the Festival of Color in downtown Aurora in May, alongside professional artists. Additionally, each student will receive a certificate of participation for completing the event.
This program is open to all students who attend Aurora schools or are a member of an Aurora-based youth organization. The cost of this program has been subsidized by the Healing Illinois Grant. Ask us more at info@mandalaarts.org
