2019: Heroes & Demons
Join us for Heroes and Demons at the Performing Arts Studio!
Multi-headed creatures, talking animals, boastful demons, and other unforgettable characters spring to life! Campers build stories using the entire body—hand gestures, complex footwork, facial expressions, and physical improvisation— as heroes and demons from South Asian mythology move about the dance floor. We will become experts in fables, songs, and tales with the help of passionate artists and educators.
This August, our students will absorb and practice theory, technique, and poetry of South Asian dance forms, while rekindling folktales, building crafts, and making lifelong friendships. Our camp aims to draw students of different ages and technique levels to develop leadership and community building skills: as we move towards a new generation of cultural leaders!
“Heroes and Demons” runs from August 5th through 16th at the Performing Arts Studio.
