Group or Private Tabla Classes
Tabla is a pair of twin hand drums from the Indian subcontient (from Persia to Malaysia) popularized since the 18th century in the royal courts of India. It can be played solo or in accompaniment with other instruments, vocals and as part of a larger ensemble.
Mandala’s drumming classes begin with the foundations of tabla playing technique – bols (sounds), Tin Tal Theka (rhythmic structures) to develop a proficient hand for playing. These Indian drums enhance coordination, self-control, improve listening skills and ability to focus. Students begin working towards composition and performance in preparation for our annual Academy Showcase. Krissy Bergmark offers group or private classes for preschoolers and up.

FAQ
Do I need previous experience with a musical instrument?
No, our Tabla classes are for all learners!
Do I need to bring my own drum?
Eventually, yes. Mandala has a limited number of drums available for rent for new students. After a few classes, students will be required to bring their own instruments. New and second-hand Tablas are available on websites such as E-Bay and Craigslist for $150-$200.
