President

For the past 25 years, Dr. Umang Patel has served the community in innumerable ways, presiding over a practice affiliated with several renowned hospitals in the western suburbs. He brings to Mandala extensive expertise as a leader in philanthropy and medicine, serving as President of the Samvedana Charitable Foundation, the Indian American Medical Association, the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Staff, the Westmont Convalescent Center.

Vice President

Asma Heptulla, a senior business analyst with experience in finance, telecommunication, and steel, brings with her over a decade of expertise in analysis and problem solving. Ms. Heptulla has recently shifted her focus to strategy, a talent she brings to the leadership of Mandala. She defines and shapes strategic decisions for businesses by delivering large-scale projects across many industries, countries, and multi-national corporations.


Treasurer

Rajat Bhandari is a veteran of many industries including financial services, oil & gas, and healthcare. He has extensive experience in management, inventory control, and debt analysis, as well as investments, goodwill and intangibles assets. As the treasurer of Mandala, Mr. Bhandari brings acumen and experience with balance sheets and income data, client communications, and development and mentorship of staff.


Secretary

Mr. Sundeep Vira has a BA in Economics from St Xavier’s College, Mumbai and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He has dedicated the past four years in the social sector with a focus on global sustainable development with projects in Cambodia, India, Nepal and Vietnam, based from Singapore and later in the US. This experience includes executive management (World Toilet Organization & BoP Hub), partnerships (Splash), consulting (Change Alliance) and volunteering. Prior to this, Mr. Vira had a 20-year career in the US financial investments including 14 years with Nuveen Investments and subsidiary NWQ, 3 years with Singapore based family office Oclaner Asset, and 4 years with Sherason Lehman (now Morgan Stanley) in their Consulting Group. Mr. Vira currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Academy Group, that seeks to change America’s future by building a national pipeline of young leaders from underserved communities, providing rigorous intervention between elementary to high schools for top tier academic and college and student job placements. Mr. Vira also serves as coach for the Global Social Impact Practicum course at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Global Advisor to Bangalore based Sattva Consulting.


Chief Marketing Strategist

Isha Jindal's passion for dance and choreography is life-long. She has performed with the world-renowned Michael Jackson tribute artists Signature from "Britain's Got Talent" and founded the fusion choreography company 3C Solutions. As a business professional, Ms. Jindal conducts audits for Ernst & Young. She has a background in marketing with AC Nielsen, and is now pursuing her MBA degree at University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.


Executive Artistic Director

Pranita (Jain) Nayar, award-winning educator and internationally-recognized dancer and choreographer, is an experienced professional in the development and implementation of multi-cultural programs. For over two decades, she has fostered cultural awareness and an atmosphere of community exchange in the Chicagoland area. She has extensive skills in the administration of a non-profit organization, including startup and arts management, program design, fundraising, grant writing, and educational outreach.

Director

An Entrepreneur, and Software Consultant, Raji Arora grew up in cosmopolitan South Madras (now Chennai), surrounded by dedicated and renowned performing artists among friends and family. Her childhood was spent attending weekly Kutcheris (classical concerts) in the numerous sabhas (theaters) of South Chennai. After spending more than a decade in Boulder, CO, Raji moved with her family to Chicago in 2011. She has been inspired by the diversity of art and culture in Chicago. A Booth MBA in Entrepreneurship, she is passionate about using the medium of Arts to impact social changes and is dedicated to helping build Mandala into the leading organization promoting South Asian arts and arts education in Chicago.
